A one day course designed to give you a concise introduction to the Interior Design process.

Aimed at beginners and design enthusiasts, the course will teach you how to approach a project in a professional and structured manner. You'll explore your creative side whilst learning practical skills and techniques, no experience necessary.

What does it cover?

  • Introduction to the 5 key stages of the Interior Design process 

  • Design Brief - learn how to write a concise but professional brief for a hypothetical project

  • Image Boards - collate & edit images based on your brief & develop a Concept Design

  • Space Planning - understand the importance of Sketch Planning, Bubble Diagrams, Traffic Flow and Zoning 

  • Drawing to scale - learn the basics of scale drawing, how to read & measure technical drawings 

  • Sourcing and Materials​ - learn how best to source, edit and present your choices. 

 

We will also have a visiting expert for part of the afternoon session, Celia from Richardson Studio Interiors, a very experienced and talented Interior Designer based in Bath. You can see her work at www.richardson-studio.co.uk and on Instagram @richardsonstudiointeriors

10.15 - 11.15      The Interior Design Process & Project Brief

11.15 - 11.30      Coffee break      

11.30 - 12.30      Concept Design & Image Boards

12.30 - 13.30      Lunch

13.30 - 14.30      Detail Design & Space Planning 

14.30 - 16.00      Sourcing & Materials

Feedback & advice will be given throughout and numbers will be strictly limited in order to ensure everyone receives a high level of teaching and1:1 attention.

Who is it aimed at?

Those with no prior experience or training in Interior Design who would like to learn the basic skills involved in order to better approach their own design project and/or those considering studying for a professional Interior Design qualification.

Where is it?

Newark Works is an exciting, creative work space in a beautifully developed industrial building, just a few minutes from the Southgate shopping area of Bath. It is just 5 minutes walk from Bath Spa train station and there is plenty of parking nearby.  www.newarkworks.co.uk

How much does it cost?

£175 payable in advance of the course date, all materials will be provided. There is complimentary tea and coffee available though please note lunch is not included. You are welcome to bring lunch to eat in the Crane Hall and there is a Mokoko coffee shop next door, plus many other lunch options over the footbridge in the Southgate shopping area.

If you are unable to make a course after booking we may offer you a place on another course of the same price at a later date, at our discretion. If the course has to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be given a full refund.
